]]> If you are a crafter you will love this idea, a yarn CSA. What’s a CSA? Watch the video, Susan does a great job of explaining. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It’s a different way of buying farm products. The consumer buys a subscription at the beginning of the season and gets a portion of the resulting harvest. This benefits the farmer because it spread the risk among all the subscribers rather than the farmer having to invest time and money all season and having to wait till harvest to recoup those investments. The amount of harvest each consumer gets depends on how well things go that season. CSAs usually provide fresh vegetables and fruits. Each year the harvest varies. You might get lots of basil one year and not much then next.

I love crafting so the idea of a yarn CSA really appeals to me. Too bad it’s sold out for the year! Also, I would prefer to subscribe a little closer to home. Any shepherds out there want to start a yarn SCA in Northern California?
